Introductions…
Despite the terrible weather (it was pouring and I’d got drenched cycling into work!) over ten people turned up at Ordsall Community Cafe to meet Annabelle Waller from the BBC.
Graeme Bates, from MCIN, who has been working at Ordsall Community Cafe for the past year and a half gave a welcome and introduction to the computer room downstairs. Here Graeme offers sessions covering basic skills and multimedia within the centre.
David Kay, also from MCIN, then gave a brief overview of the Community Reporters project and of MCIN’s partnership working with the BBC.
David then introduced Annabelle who talked about her work at the BBC.
Then the group introduced themselves highlighting a wide range of skills. There were representatives from a number of community groups but also people with an interest or background in a diverse variety of areas including creative writing, poetry, blogging, community radio, theatre and video.
The group discussed what they would like to make a video about and a number of ideas were raised.
This will be discussed in detail at the first session next week.
Keep an eye on this blog as each week the group will be adding updates on what was covered in each session and at the end of the four weeks we’ll be posting our finished video online.
